Urban monuments preservation area Kadaň [ Městská památková rezervace ]
The town is first mentioned in 1186, and in 1259 it was raised by Přemysl Otakar II to the status of Royal Town.
The historic core comproses the castle, the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, the former Minorte monastery, the former tertian Franciscan monastery, the Hospital Church of St John, St Anne´s Church, the Barbican, the town hall and the houses on the square, and the All Saints´ Gate.
